Task
From 2022, Fritz Winter Eisengießerei was supported as part of a comprehensive transformation program to secure its competitiveness through sustainable key technologies such as ecoMelting, ecoCasting and ecoCoating. The program comprised several strategically linked major projects with a considerable investment volume.
At the beginning of the programme, there was a considerable need for action in the areas of transparency, control and standardization. The project work was organized decentrally and had a strong technical focus, which meant that strategic dependencies, synergies and cost and deadline risks were not sufficiently taken into account. By establishing a central project management system, these challenges were successfully addressed and the overall program was implemented in a structured and efficient manner.
Result:
- Improved controllability and communication: The introduction of a centralized project management system led to significantly better coordination, transparency and decision-making across all sub-projects.
- Stronger supplier integration: Improved coordination and early communication with suppliers made it possible to identify dependencies at an early stage and minimize the risk of delays.
- Successful investment implementation: The planned investments in plant and equipment were largely implemented. One sub-project was strategically postponed in order to ensure the necessary operational stability.
- Qualification and sensitization of employees: Project managers and teams were sensitized to cost-conscious action and systemic thinking through targeted training – an important building block for a holistic project culture.
